Santas breakfast at School
Cole and Ashlyn enjoying Santa. All Ashlyn wanted was the candy cane from Santa. Ashlyn asked for a game boy and cole asked for a DSi and an electric motorcycle. We'll see about the motorcycle!! Fun times for the kids.
I definitely won the “worst mom award” this past weekend. My family went over to some friends house to celebrate a friends birthday after church Saturday night. My husband and I were more distracted than normal as we had two extra kids with us that evening. As we proceeded to get out of the car, we got busy greeting some friends that also had arrived. All families got our things together and went inside for the party. The kids took off like normal playing with the other kids and I just assumed my two year old was with them as well. About 10-15 minutes later my husband asked me where Ashlyn was, my two year old. I said oh I think she is with the other kids. At that moment, we both questioned each other if either one of us had taken Ashlyn out of the car. My heart sank at that very instant as I realized, we forgot to unstrap our two year old and get her out of the car as well. I immediately ran to the car knowing it was warm outside and the windows were shut. Needless to say I was panicked!! I quickly opened the car door and there was my little ashlyn sucking on her ring pop with tears streaming down her cute adorable face. I picked her up, apologizing and kissing her all over, and bawling my eyes out. I felt like the worst, irresponsible mother on this planet. I could just imagine what was running through her mind as she saw her family walking into the house leaving her stranded by herself in the car. Oh how she felt so rejected, scared, and wondering if anyone cared about her. As I think about this occurrence, it reminds me of how sometimes we may feel in life. Rejected, afflicted, scared, oppressed, maybe wondering if anyone cares. Jesus had also felt these same feelings as he was being persecuted on the cross. He understands the loneliness and rejection my daughter probably felt. God allowed Christ to suffer physical, mental, and spiritual pain so he too could relate to our emotional or physical pain. Isaiah 53: 3-5 describes how Christ was despised and rejected, wounded for our transgressions. The last part of the verse shares how we are healed through his stripes (the actual beating of Christ). The next time you feel rejected, afflicted, lonely, fall on your knees and ask our God to heal you through his wounds. He understands your pain he really does!! He has been there done that!!
