Thought of the week comments for April 19

Do you want more courage in your life? I would venture to say most of us wish we had more courage to do or say the right thing, break that addictive habit, or conquer a fear in our life. This past weekend I attended the MOPS annual Leadership Summit. The topic was simple courage in the everyday. Many moms gave their personal testimony of developing courage in their own lives. Fear is what grips our heart and keeps us in a state of dysfunction. We have to make a choice between living in comfortable chains or unfamiliar freedom (spoken from our pastor this morning). Obtaining courage in our life only happens when we can break free from the comfortable chains that keep us in bondage. By the way, breaking free from our comfortable chains is almost humanly impossible. We are not smart, capable, or strong enough to completely break those chains. It is only by God's strength, power, and will are we able to be free from bondage and move into unfamiliar freedom. Courage at its best is recognizing the fear that is paralyzing you, and allowing God to strip that fear so you can move past it. It's called daily surrender!!

  1. We are to walk by faith, not by sight. If I truly trust God, then this will not be a problem. What happens is that I lose courage, stop trusting God, start living by sight and then I am limited, scared, and weak. Jesus said twice, "Take Courage!" It is ours for the taking. So why am I hesitant? Because I am not living Proverbs 3:5-6. I want to be a walking Proverbs 3:5-6 testimony. My circumstances require me to have this hope and faith, my hope and strength is in the Lord, so I must choose to live courageously in Christ. Amen!

  2. Jules, yes!! This is soo true as I have learned myself through my own trials. I was unable to get through them until I gave myself and my fears over to God and only then He gave me the courage to face them, to let go and to move on... Only with God can you do this! Pray for God, as you said, to break through those chains! :)
