Thought of the week comments for Jan 17th
Life is precious!! The other night, my husband was out of town and I decided to take my kids to dinner. As we were driving to our location, we witnessed a motorcycle accident that had just happened. I drove upon cars that were stopped on the side of the road and we couldn’t figure out what was happening because there were no emergency vehicles at the scene yet. I looked over to my left, and there was a young man who crashed his motorcycle into a tree. He was laying on the ground and he looked lifeless. There were people around him and one man had his hand on his body and it looked like he was praying for this young man’s life. It looked as if this young man had lost his life right at the scene. Oh my heart just became sick at this sight. I immediately pulled my car over, my kids were pretty shook up and we prayed for this young mans life. It's been 3 days now since this accident and I can’t get this picture out of my mind. I keep thinking, one minute this man had breath of life and the next minute his life was gone. When we see situations like this, it makes us stop and think about how every moment we live is precious. Make every second count because you never know when it's your last breath. I love the words of Jesus in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Are you making every moment count and living your life to the fullest? If not, how can you start living life to your fullest? Do you need to repair a relationship, start working towards your dreams and goals, spending quality time with those who are closest to you, saying "I love you" to a loved one? Do it today because life is too precious to waste another moment.

you rock.
ReplyDeleteHello Julie, thanks for your blog…I agree with Cannon in that you do ROCK!
ReplyDeleteI am in agreement that it is important for us to live our lives repairing damaged relationships, working towards our goals, and spending time with those we love.
Yet, these efforts are only as good as our time spent here on earth. And, as Julie pointed out our life on earth is short. It will not last forever. The question I think everyone should take time to answer is, “Where will you go when you die? “ The only two choices for life after death are Heaven and Hell. That is it.
Please don’t miss the single most important decision you can make and that is to recognize you need salvation in Jesus Christ. We can never earn salvation by our good works here on earth. We will never be “good” enough. It starts with recognizing that God is our creator, God is Holy, God is just, and God is loving. The only way to have salvation in Christ is to recognize you are a sinner and in need of a savior. Then, you put your trust in Christ.
If you don’t have true saving faith than your life is only as good as the time you have left on earth. Yet, if you reconcile your life to Christ you will live forever in heaven with our King Jesus. That means you view your life differently here on earth. You realize it is temporary and that you live your life in obedience to Christ knowing someday you will live forever with him. It is like you are storing up your treasures for Heaven rather than earth.
Once you have solved the problem of salvation then your good works here on earth are meant to glorify God and he will reward you for that in Heaven.
I have included some Bible verses as well as a couple of websites that will clarify who you are in the Lord. Today is the day to turn your life over to the Lord and answer his calling if you have not already done so.
I am confident that Julie or I could walk you through if you have any questions or need guidance in what it means to walk with the Lord. I will be praying for God to do his work in all of our lives. Thank you Julie for the forum to encourage and speak truth.

Bible Verses below
Acts 17:30-31 (New International Version)
30In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Hebrews 3:12-15
12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. 15As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."
